Mayor Mick Porter, elected April 2009, had been a Ward
3 Alderman from 2004 to 2007.
He has been active in the City of Momence as a school teacher and volunteer for
many local organizations for more than 13 years. Mayor Porter is employed as the
Dean of Students and Athletic Director for the Momence Junior High School. He is
active in after-school programs and is an avid golfer and musician.

Margaret "Becky" Peterson has been a long time Momence citizen and has been City
Treasurer since 2005. She is retired from Parish Bank & Trust Company and also
for twenty years helped run the family owned Jensen Drug Store. She has two
daughters, Beth and Jane, and two granddaughters. She enjoys travel, working at
Conrad Park and spending time with friends and family. |

Alderwoman Ward 1Bonnie Straley

Bonnie was appointed alderwoman of the first ward in August 2006, then in April of
2007 officially ran for the position of 1st Ward Alderwoman. She has lived in
Momence since 1990, having moved here with her job. She has been a USDA Consumer Safety
Inspector for 22 years; her job is to cover meat processing plants and assure the
processes and meats the plants use are within the food safe perimeters. She has
been married for fifteen years to Neil Straley and they have 2 sons, Zack-21 yrs.
and Ben who is 12. Bonnie enjoys camping, reading and is an avid Nascar fan (Go Kevin
Harvick!) Growing up she lived in the small town of Stillman Valley IL, graduating
from high school in a class of 100.
Bonnie really enjoys the challenges faced while serving as a council member, and
strives to do what is in the best interest of the 1st ward and the city of Momence. She
has an open door policy and her phone is also answered. Bonnie thanks the residents of
the first ward for putting their trust in her and electing her to this interesting
position.

Alderwoman Denton was appointed in September, 2009, and was reappointed in January, 2012. Originally from Iowa, she was grew up in Primghar, Iowa and then attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa. Her first visit to Momence was in the summer of 1980. She became a resident in 1985. She has been married to Kevin for 24 years and they have one son.
Alderwoman Denton is employed with Timberline Business Service as the Business Development Director. She enjoys camping, traveling and auto racing. |

Alderwoman Nova Metz, was elected in April 2009. Alderwoman Metz is married to John, they have two children, Zane and Laynee.
Alderwoman Metz is also the President of the Momence PTO and Secretary of the Momence Lions Club. She is very active in what her children are involved with. She enjoys spending time with family and friends. |

• Alderman Kupferer has been a member of the City Council since 2008, and has
been part of the Momence Community for more than 24 years.
• Raised in Kankakee, Alderman Kupferer moved to Momence in 1987.
• Alderman Kupferer is married to Tammy, and they have four children and three
grandchildren.
• Alderman Kupferer works in the Lab as Senior Lab Technician for Sun Chemical in
Kankakee, Illinois where he has worked for 34 years.
• He enjoys Outdoor activities, travel and spending time with his children and
grandchildren.

Appointed to city council in Nov 2009. Grew up in Alaska and Wisconsin, came to
area to attend Olivet Nazarene University graduating in 1980.
Lived out of the area over the years in California and Wisconsin, Moved to
Momence in 2000. I work as a landscape designer for Art's Landscaping in
Bourbonnais. I am an avid gardener and involved in various civic organizations. |

Alderman Mark Lesyna was elected in May of 2007. He has been an alderman since
February of 2006. Mark was born in St Louis, and moved to Momence in December of
1993. Alderman Lesyna is married to his wife Patricia. They have one son. Mark
has been an employee of Eastman Kodak for 35 years.

Steve grew up in South Holland, and moved to Momence in 2002, where he and his wife have
since had 3 children, all girls, and are expecting the 4th (and last) in
November. He has worked in the Tool & Die/Moldmaking industry for last 15 years.
Steve has been the 4th ward Alderman since May 2009. |

2012 Momence City Council
The Momence City Council consists of the Mayor, City Clerk, Treasurer,
and eight
Alderpersons.
The City Council meets on the first and third Mondays of each
month, and other times as necessary. Meetings begin at 7:30 PM, and the City
Council agendas are posted on the Fridays that precede the Monday meeting dates.
All meetings are held in compliance with the Illinois Open Meetings Act.
